“Juneteenth has never been a celebration of victory or an acceptance of the way things are. It’s a celebration of progress. It’s an affirmation that despite the most painful parts of our history, change is possible- and there is still so much work to do.” - Barack Obama

Juneteenth- June 19th, 1865- was the day the union soldiers enforced the Emancipation Proclamation and freed all the remaining slaves in Texas. Jubilee Day, otherwise known as Black Independence Day is our day to celebrate our families, our heritage and becoming our ancestors’ wildest dreams. We have to look at how far we’ve come and preserve the memory of those that came before us to offer hope for every generation going forward ❤️💚🖤🤎
